According to China's latest UN Climate Change Commitment Report, China plans to add clean energy installed capacity equivalent to the current capacity of the British National Grid between 2020 and 2030. After the 1940s, China will add 90 billion watts of non-petrochemical installed capacity each year.

According to the report, China plans to add 900 gigawatts of wind, nuclear and solar power generation by 2030, which is twice the current global installed capacity of renewable energy. China's long-term energy planning investment is estimated to be US$6.6 trillion. By 2050, China's economic growth will be decoupled from carbon emissions, and energy consumption per unit will drop by 61% compared with 2005.

GWG energy analysts said that although China is actively adjusting its economic structure and transforming its economic growth pattern, this process will not happen overnight. The downward pressure on the economy will be a huge challenge. If China’s economic growth enters a difficult situation, or cannot find enough China’s carbon emission targets may be affected by replacing coal with natural gas.
